Sunday football opens across the Atlantic today, as the NFL’s Week 5 begins in London with the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Philadelphia Eagles — the first whistle of a full American slate.
Kickoff at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is set for 9:30 a.m. ET, with the game carried on NFL Network. Jacksonville (3–1) are the designated home side as they open two consecutive London weekends, while Philadelphia (2–2) travel looking to steady their season after a stop-start opening month.
The 1 p.m. window is a crowded one: Dolphins at Bengals in Miami, Patriots against the Raiders in Foxborough, Saints versus the Vikings in New Orleans, Jets taking on the Browns in East Rutherford, Steelers hosting the Colts in Pittsburgh, Titans against the Texans in Nashville, Commanders facing the Giants in Landover, and Packers meeting the Bears in Green Bay.
Among them, several games carry extra weight. Division rivalries — Packers-Bears, Commanders-Giants, Titans-Texans — always bring an edge that early standings cannot capture, while sides like Pittsburgh and Philadelphia will be judged on whether their early form marks them as genuine contenders or slow starters.
The late game brings the Broncos and Chargers together to close out Sunday’s action, with playoff implications already beginning to take shape in both conferences. As October football sets in, early-season narratives — surprise contenders, stalled offences, injury lists — start to harden into what the rest of the campaign will look like.
From Tottenham to Nashville, it is a day for armchair and barstool alike. The London crowd will be the first to find out whether the Jaguars’ fine start survives an Eagles side with something to prove — and the afternoon will decide how much of what follows belongs to the pretenders and how much to the real thing.
